This book is definitely recommended if you are looking for a clue-like murder mystery that is a fun and easy heartfelt read with an unexpected twist and a satisfying ending. It’s perfect for anyone who enjoys mysteries with memorable characters and meaningful themes.

The main character Molly Gray, the hotel maid, is quirky, innocent, unintentionally hilarious and endlessly entertaining. Another standout character is Juan Manuel, the dishwasher, who turns out to be an unexpected sweetheart, along with Giselle Black, the wife of the wealthy Mr Black, who treats Molly with kindness and completely surprises you at the end.

The story follows Molly as she goes about her day returning rooms to “a state of perfection” and suddenly finds herself as the main suspect in the murder investigation of Mr Black. Beyond the mystery are themes of friendship, acceptance, and grief as Molly discovers her inner power and strength. She reminds us that “we are all the same in different ways” and satisfyingly outsmarts Rodney, the handsome and charismatic bartender who reveals himself to be manipulative and predatory.

The only downside, this book is the first and most popular of a four-book series that you will want to continue reading!

The upside, it is currently being adapted into a movie by Universal Pictures, starring Oscar nominated actress Florence Pugh as Molly Gray.
